The Swiss economy is one of the strongest and most diversified
in the world. Dozens of domestic and foreign multinationals
and hundreds of thousands of small and midsized companies and
a large financial sector create a business environment that
is at the same time very international and highly competitive.
Due to its excellent network of trade and tax treaties, the
countries economy functions smoothly within the European Union.
According to the Switzerland 2005 Country Commercial Guide (U.S.
Commercial Service) Switzerland's trade policies are liberal,
and market entry is for U.S. exporters, by and large, free of
impediments.
