Iron Mountain Opens International Financial Headquarters in Switzerland

NEW YORK March 6 - Massachusetts-based Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), a company that provides information protection and storage services, has opened its international treasury headquarters in Switzerland, reports Mario Brossi of the Swiss Foreign Investment Agency Location: Switzerland. The center, based in Schaffhausen, offers its services to Iron Mountain’s European subsidiaries, and progressively to all its worldwide subsidiaries, thereby centralizing its international treasury activities, Mr. Brossi said.

Iron Mountain’s Senior Vice President and Treasurer Jeff Lawrence said that the company selected Switzerland after evaluating locations in the Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland.  “Switzerland’s tax treaties with countries around the world provide an ideal environment for Iron Mountain’s in-house bank to finance our expanding global operations while complying with Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulations,” he said. “Adding to the attractiveness is Switzerland’s own business-friendly tax regime and easy access to major European markets. Schaffhausen was chosen because of its central location in Europe, its proximity to the financial center in Zurich and the multilingual workforce.”

Mr. Lawrence added that “The local economic development authorities were very helpful in setting up our operations in Schaffhausen, where staffing may include (in addition to treasury activities), risk management, purchasing, internal audit and sales activities, just to name a few of the other functions under consideration.”
