Switzerland Ranks 4th Globally in 2004 IDC Information Society Index

New York, Nov. 16 - Switzerland moved from 7th place in 2003 to 4th place

in the 2004 IDC Information Society Index measuring the ability of 53

nations to participate in the information revolution, said Mario Brossi of

Location: Switzerland, the Swiss inward investment promotion agency.

The study provides detailed analysis of IT spending, Internet usage,

telecommunications and social factors according to 15 data variables, Mr.

"Our high ranking in this sector explains Switzerland's success in

attracting investment projects from the world's leading IT and related

technology companies," Mr. Brossi said. He listed as recent acquisitions,

new or expanded projects in this sector Agile Software, Antelope

Technologies, Cisco Systems, eBay, Elan Microelectronics, Faro

Technologies, Flextronics, Genesys Conferencing, GeoConcept, Google, Ixos

Software, NewLogic Technologies, Nextance, PC Academy and Tektronix.
